Hey James.
I thought I'd give you this update on this 60Se Pro. Well, I took it to my local Central London dealer so I could get a better idea of what my next cartridge would sound like. This was an amazing day out and not because I was in a hifi room but because the dealer tried to sell me a more expensive phono stage and a "far better one"... he said. He couldn't have been further away from reality.
So what was the phono stage and cartridge he played? Well he played 2. The EMT 128 which was around £10K... that was a no show. It sounded absolutely CRAP compared to the 60Se Pro. I mean it sounded like a cheap phono stage with the Lyra Kleos SL.
We played the EMT128 for about 30mins and he wasn't impressed with it compared o the 60Se Pro. Then came the Soulution 550 (I think that's the spelling). This was on reduced so I was offered it at £13k. The dealer was really trying so sell it to me.
Lyra Kleos SL and Soulution 550 sounded pretty good but again with the 60Se Pro the sound opened up so much. We could hear things in the vast soundstage that we not really apparent in the Soulution 550. The presentation of the 60Se Pro also sounded REAL and so good that I am now the proud owner of a Lyra Kleos SL/ 60 Se Pro for my second system. I cannot believe the 60Se Pro was that capable against a £20K phono stage. I know you told me but until one experiences it....
James, I am beyond happy with my setups. The 60Se Pro/ Audio Technica ART20 in my primany system sounds stunning and the 2nd system playing classical sounds like heaven too.
